About six months ago I discovered the beautiful little latino chia. I really want to share with you the wonder of this humble seed which was a staple of ancient Aztec culture and are now being rediscovered. Not only are they packed with protein and calcium, they balance your blood sugar and keep you feeling full! I posted a great link tonight on my
healthy hints page about the
benefits of chia so have a read! I wonder what other amazing foods we have lost touch with through our westernised dietary practices. I love browsing in our local health food stores to look for new and exciting foods but also because the scent brings back warm memories of my mother who used to frequent them when I was very young. I suspect my weakness for carob coated licorice comes from the treats she used to buy my brother and I, probably because they are so chewy they would keep us quiet all the way home. But I digress....back to my new latino lover, don't worry Shaun if you're reading - I'm talking about the chia which I sprinkled on your greek yoghurt & mango drizzled with raw honey this evening after your Mediterranean omellete with salad greens. He did such a great job of the lawn this evening that I was inspired to transmutate into domestic goddess mode and prepare him a meal. So chia - sprinkle them on your fruits, slip them in your smoothie or make these great
raw cacao crackers which I am going to try this weekend - so if you're joining us this Sunday afternoon for a picnic
'In the Raw' you might even get to try one (and yes please wear clothes!)
Hey cara, have you heard of Cyndi O Meara? It would be great for you to hear her speak, or even organize for her to visit Ipswich and speak to a group - she's amazingly inspiring! www.changinghabits.com.au
